GENIUS IS MADE NOT BORN
We are all gifted, gifted with the genes of Homo Sapien, species to which all modern human beings belong.
no human being in history has ever come close in using up the capacity of our brain.
We do not live long enough to use a thousandth of our brains potential.
in fact, if you are able to use a thousandth of your brain potential, you will have the achievement
comparable to the great Leornado DA Vinci, the painter of Mona Lisa and the last supper.
Human beings have long been living under myths. Until 500 years ago we still
Believed that the world is flat. We were taught that genius is a blind accident
that occurs once in a hundred, a thousand, or a million years without rhyme or reason.
But in reality, what we call genius is no gift at all; instead it is a human birthright common to all.
When Einstein died,all the best doctors and scientists in the world were
hurried to the scene. They immediately took out his brain, run all sort
of detailed and painstaking tests, diagnosis, examinations.
after much hoopla, they made one discovery that shocks the whole wideworld.
they found out one thing that astonished every supporter of hereditary intelligence,
and delighted every supporter of environmental intelligence in the world.
The shocking fact that they found was that Einstein was given the brain of Homo
Sapiens and that's exactly like the brain that you and I have in every important way.
it doesn't has any German characteristics or Princeton genes or atomic genes, although
in life it was all full of German knowledge and Princeton knowledge and E=mc2 or whatever it was.
There is nothing particular about Einsteins brain; it has the same potential as our brain has.
The only difference is that he makes use of more of the potential of his brain.
Let me fly all of you to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in US.
Glenn Doman, a physical therapist who pioneered child brain development,
founded Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential
(IAHP).He has lived with, studied, worked lived with children in more than
100 nations ranging from the most civilised to the most primitive. Over the last
50 years he has been working with the brain-injured children.
He has found out that intelligence can be nurtured. They were able to make severely
brain-injured children who were blind, deaf, paralyzed and speechless able to see
hear, walk and talk. And they have discovered that as they got to walk, talk and see and hear,
their IQ went up, some were average and some above average. We must not forget that almost
all of those kid who were diagnosed as hopeless mentally retarded.
At first, it seems to them that as their IQ went up, they can see, read, talk better.
but later they find out that it was just the opposite. it is because that they can read, write
hear, talk, understood better, feel better that their IQ went up. The conclusion that they found is that
Intelligence is the result of thinking, as you read, writes, and sees better, your think better, and your IQ went up.
Just see around you. How many linguistics genius that we have around you. Are you not amazed how many
foreign languages that we can speak? Malay, English, Tamil,Hokkien, Mandarin, Hakka,
Teow Chiew, Cantonese. no one stop me yet, some of you might says , wait a minute, hokkien & mandarin
is not foreign language to us, they are our mother tongue. Yes, but if your think of it from that
perspective of a newborn or a baby, they are all foreign languages.
just like English is foreign to American baby. look at the
kids that can speak 3 to 4 languages at the age of 3 and 4 year old.
So, enough with the myth that if your father is not Einstein, you will not be an Einstein.
Thomas Edison once says, genius is 1percent inspiration and 99 % perspiration.
You can be a Leonardo Da Vinci if you put your heart and brain and strive towards it.
You can be a Shakespeare if you put your heart and brain into it.
You can be a Picasso if you want to be.
each and everyone of us has the genius inside of us
We have been cheated by our lack of knowledge for centuries. And now it is the
time to take action, to let the "genius" out and to awaken the giant inside of us.

Tribute to a Mentor
October 13th, 2002 had been a sad day as far as Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club is concern. Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club had lost one of its founding Chartered member, mentor and former President and a very good grammarian, Lim Poh Ann,Competant Leader. The passing of Lim Poh Ann, a leader and a friend is a big loss and heartfelt by all Toastmasters members especially Seberang Jaya Toastmaster Club.
A leader to her former club and a teacher of former Chung Ling Butterworth secondary school, P.A. as we all Toastmasters used to call her was an active and committed member of our club after the crossover from Butterworth Toastmasters as mentor to Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club.
A leader who had been a Toastmaster for 8 years and understood Toastmasters activities well and was always willing to listen and provide suggestion, advice for the betterment of our Toastmasters Club. Being a teacher, especially a secondary teacher of a competitive result orientated Butterworth Chung Ling High School, it requires a lot of sacrifices,leadership, enthusiasm, energy and a determination of steel to groom this club until what it has been today.The late PA Lim, was a commited leader who attended various Toastmasters activities and a winner in several Toastmasters International State held contests .
I personally had the opportunity to work with her, especially her style which always leave the credit to others, other than herself. She is also a careful person with budgetted expenditures for the club during the establishment and trying period,a willing volunteer who would slot in any role that was required of the meeting, gave time to prepare and wrap lucky draw gift, packed birthdays gift for club members, writing personal " thank you "cards for her Exco members.
I once asked the late PA Lim. I said " you thank everybody and the exco, I wonder who actually said ' Thank you' in that appreciative way - the PA's way ". She answered " As long as the club is a success and everybody is happy, I am satisfied."
P.A. we want to state this, that " you have left behind a committed Exco and loyal members of Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club, we shall continue with what that had been left by you to greater heights."
Let us all pray for her soul as we send our heartfelt condolences to her family.
