SEBERANG JAYA TOASTMASTERS CLUB NEWS BULLETIN (9372-51) Issue No.1 - Sept 2000
We meet on 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 8.00 p.m. at Safira Country Club, Seberang Jaya.
Dear fellow Toastmasters,
It is indeed a good beginning of a new term in the new millennium whereby we saw positive changes in Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club. First, we witnessed our club having achieved a good participation in the month of August with all members working together as a team. With our new Executive Committee members under the leadership of P. A. Lim, CL, we faced with new challenges such as organizing of our 3rd Installation Nite Dinner & In-House humorous speech contest chaired by Vilasini Menon on the 19th of August 2000. We were impressed with the enthusiastic humorous contestants namely Alicia Cheah CTM, Ong Choon An, Cheri Kok, Philip Ng, Teoh Choon Hock and Vivekanandan where Alicia Cheah CTM emerged as the 'Humorous Queen' of our club.
On 1st of August, we were graced by the presence of Division N Governor Hj.Ahmed Bazari, DTM who gave a talk on 'The importance of the Toastmaster International's Manual' and Cik Bashira CL, President of Butterworth Toastmasters Club (BTM) who carried out the evaluation of assignment speech 4 for Mr. Tneh Aik Hong.
Dr.C Sivagnanam completed his 10th assignment speech. We are expecting the birth of this CTM soon. IPP Ng Fook Chin completed his 6th assignment speech title AIDS (Assassination induced By Defamation and Slander ) on the 15th of August 2000. Incidentally we are indeed honor to have our Asst. Division N Governor-Education, Mr. K.K. Chee CL, of BTC to share with us the topic of 'Evaluate to Motivate'. As the Chinese proverb says 'The older the Ginger, the Hotter it is'. So are these 'Hot Ginger'.
The launching of our Seberang Jaya ToastMasters Club Bulletin and Homepage by the Editorial committee are " a first" for our club. We are now at the Information Age, the online events information and meeting calender in the homepage shall result in the members to be more information orientated on our Toastmaster club's activities and also make our members proud with 'a true place of belonging'.
We are expected to focus on our monthly goals in recruiting new members from the nearby rich industrial workforce. We are blessed with committed members coordinating effectively, into the establishment of the club. One of our goal is to make Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club a household name catering the needs in this area.
Last but not least let us get aspired. I know the goal to Select Distinguish Club status will be within our reach this term.

The Month in Review Comments from members about the activities and direction of the club during the past month or mention some noteworthy events.
Two Heads are Better than one
Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club & Butterworth Toastmasters Club held their joint Festive Christmas celebration on the 19th Dec 2000 in conjunction with our 3th quarter birthday celebration. About 40 members and guests attended the function which was a great success.
Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club and Bayan Baru Toastmasters Club held their 1st Joint Meeting in Panther Club, Relau on 4th Jan 2001. As many as 16 members attended the above which was filled with intersting topics and alot of fun. Members spoke from their heart how they benefitted from Toastmasters and how they were able to carry themselves in official function.

Congratulation to Area N6 Gorvenor Ng Fook Chin for your completion of your 10th speech assignment. We look forward to you achieving by becoming a Competant Leader before this term. Once again congratulation!
